DR wants me to deliver at 36 weeks if baby’s lungs are fully developed?!?!?

I just got home from a visit with my Doctor and what surprising news I received! Up until this point I’ve been seeing a midwife who has been discussing with me whether I wanted to give birth vaginally or by c-section. I have an 8 month old daughter who was born in Sept 2008 and my due date for this child is July 26 2009 (yes I know they’ll only be 11 months apart). Needless to say, for my safety and the safety of the babies, I decided I would most likely have another c-section. Today (Im 30 weeks), I was sent to see a different dr (note that this is on an army base) and he pounced on me with news that at 36 weeks he would be doing an Amniocentesis to check whether or not the baby’s lungs were fully developed and that if they ARE fully developed that he would go ahead and schedule me for a C-section within that same week! He explained why and how having 2 baby’s back to back makes things so complicated and unsafe for me and the baby but is this normal!!?!? I asked him if I could at least wait until I was 38 weeks so that the baby would have a higher birth weight and he replied “well this isn’t burger king you can’t have it your way.” I was so shocked and angry with his reply that I didn’t even want to discuss anything else with him! I want whats best for my baby and I don’t understand how waiting till I’m 38 weeks to deliver would be putting my babies health in jeopardy? can someone please shed some light on this for me?? Has anyone been in this situation before?!?!
Not sure how to reply to everyone answering but thanks for the reassurance! I told the receptionist that I DID NOT want to ever see that dr again and that I would be filing a complaint for his dis respectfulness. I was appalled! I plan on having my baby as close to my due date as possible! I know the health risks of delivering so early and you would think he would be just as concerned about me having a premature baby. Next appt isn’t with him Thank God! Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. Being a mother of an 8 month old.. dealing with my Husband’s fast approaching deployment PLUS a baby on the way can really stress you out!

Does Islam/Hindu promote baby tossing as a means of providing good health and prosperity?

NEW DELHI (AP) — Rights activists lashed out Friday at local officials who allowed hundreds of infants to be dropped from the roof of a mosque in western India in the belief that the fall — which ends when the babies are caught in a bedsheet — would ensure good health and prosperity for their families.

The ritual at the Baba Umer Durga, a Muslim shrine, is believed to have been followed for nearly 700 years, and each year hundreds of people, both Hindus and Muslims, take part in the ritual.

Local officials told television news stations there had been no reports of injuries.

The infants, mostly under two years old, were dangled Thursday from the roof of the shrine near Sholapur, about 280 miles south of Mumbai, before being dropped about 50 feet onto a bedsheet held aloft by parents and other believers.

Television channels showed the babies screaming as they were shaken in the air before being dropped.

If we let our guard down will Democrats force middle class families into dependency on government handout for?

If we let our guard down will Democrats force middle class families into dependency on government handout for healthcare?

Why does government try to abolish allowing middle class families to buy into market-driven risk-sharing pools that allow them to pay for their own healthcare with no government involvement?

Why does giving healthcare to the poor and uninsured involve attacking the way middle class pays for their own healthcare? Does forcing middle class into Medicaid help the poor?

Why has nothing been proposed to reduce the spiraling healthcare costs? Is USA’s middle class destined to suffer the same horrible fate as that of the UK—trapped under the thumb of an out-of-control bloated omnipotent federal bureacracy?:
