health insurance for baby of teen parent?

my father has a 3m plan through health partners and we are trying to figure out if the baby would be covered by my parents insurance, since i’m still a dependent under their insurance as long as i’m a fulltime student in school/college. supposedly i’d have to make my father legal guardian of my child, is this true?
